Long Beach Island, also known as LBI, has always been and remains a popular South Jersey destination point for beachgoers and boaters alike. The island stretches 18 miles and has six different sections which each offer their own unique take on Jersey Shore life. Read below to see which section of LBI you should head to for your next shore visit!
Surf City, Surf’s Up!
Surf City, NJ lives up to its name offering surfing lessons and camps during the summer season. All skill levels are welcome to catch a wave and hang ten. Beachgoers can watch as beginners and pros alike take to the waters. In addition to surfing, there are plenty of opportunities to get on the water including kayaking and paddleboarding. More of a landlubber?! Rent a bike or surrey and enjoy some time rolling through the streets or along the beaches taking in the scenery.
Canvas Enclosures for Privacy along Barnegat Light
After a fun day on the water, boaters looking to enjoy a quiet night on anchor can head to Barnegat Light,NJ which is at the north end of LBI. There is a good anchorage just in front of the light house where you can enjoy a safe night on the water with wonderful views. As you settle in for the night, having a custom made canvas enclosure will help provide privacy and protection from any foul weather that might blow in. Stay warm, dry, and comfortable on chilly nights or roll up the marine vinyl panels to let a cool sea breeze through on warmer nights.
Long Beach Township
Long Beach Township is an area that is “split up” along the island. While it contains many different neighborhoods up and down the island, our favorite is the southernmost area of Holgate, NJ. Holgate is known for its quiet and laid back atmosphere and the southern tip is mostly undeveloped and uninhabited. It is here you will find the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge. You can explore on foot through different trails; however, the best way to see nature is via boat through the many marshes and creeks. For boaters headed this way, consider adding some screens to your boat enclosure to protect from the greenheads and mosquitoes!
Bimini Sun Shades for Fishing in Harvey Cedars
If you’re looking for an undisturbed environment that has great fishing opportunities, head towards Long Beach Island’s Harvey Cedars section. This area is mostly residential so there isn’t as much traffic on the water when you’re out catching dinner! Elemental Enclosures can custom design a marine canvas bimini for your boat’s cockpit area which will ensure that you and your crew are kept comfortable all day. Because we use only Sunbrella marine grade canvas, you can be sure that your boat canvas will be long lasting and be able to withstand all the marine environment can throw at it.
Cockpit Covers Keep Upholstery Fresh while in Ship Bottom
Ship Bottom, NJ is nestled between the Manahawkin Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. For those traveling the intracoastal waterway (ICW), it’s a great location to pull into a transient slip for the night and take a break. For boaters that are only doing a day trip, the Ship Bottom boat ramp at 11th Street and the Bay offer perfect access to the water. For those day trippers, it is probably worthwhile to invest in a marine canvas cockpit cover for when the boat is stored on the trailer. Elemental Enclosures custom fits each and every cover for perfect coverage to keep your instruments, furniture, and upholstery safe from the sun and elements when the boat is not in use.
Something for Everyone in Beach Haven
Beach Haven is known for its many shopping, dining, and nightlife options. It is also home to Fantasy Island Amusement Park which is a favorite among children and adults alike. Whether you’re looking for a day trip or a week-long escape, Beach Haven is sure to offer everything you’re looking for.
Staying on the Mainland
Boaters looking for a more laid back and peaceful location than LBI can offer while still enjoying easy access to the water should consider Tuckerton, NJ. Tucked between Little Egg Harbor Township and the Mystic Islands on the west side of the Manahawkin Bay, Tuckerton, NJ has a lot to offer from museums to nightlife to nature and wildlife experiences. If you’re lucky enough to live in the area year round and need any boat canvas for your summer excursions, Elemental Enclosures “has you covered”!
No matter which neighborhood you choose to visit when heading to the shore, you’re bound to find enjoyable activities, beautiful views, and amazing nature opportunities.
